Choose a winning pattern

Mark all four corner squares. The centre is not part of this pattern.

4 of 25 squares marked. A FREE centre counts as marked if your game uses one.

Seven bingo patterns at a glance

These examples use a 5×5 card. The diagrams show the exact squares to complete. If you allow a shape to rotate or appear anywhere, say so before play. Larger shapes require more marked squares, but the number of calls still depends on the cards and calling order.

Horizontal line

Complete the highlighted row. For an “any line” game, announce that any row, column or diagonal counts instead.

Vertical line

Complete the highlighted column from top to bottom.

Diagonal line

Complete the highlighted diagonal from the top left to the bottom right.

Four corners

Mark all four corner squares. The centre is not part of this pattern.

Letter X

Complete both diagonals. If your game uses a FREE centre, it is already marked.

Outside border

Mark every square around the outside edge. Interior squares do not count.

Blackout / full house

Mark every square on the card. A FREE centre counts as already marked when used.

How to use it

  1. Choose the same grid size as your player cards. Select a pattern, or tap individual squares to design your own.
  2. Show the pattern before the game starts. Print a poster or download the SVG for slides. Copy a link to let another host open the same design.
  3. Mark called items on your caller sheet and check every square in a winning pattern. A FREE square is already marked when your game uses one.

Common questions

What are common bingo winning patterns?

A line across, down or diagonally; four corners; an X; the outside border; and blackout are common choices. Hosts set the rule for each round. A specific top-row pattern is different from an “any line” game.

Does the FREE square count?

If your cards have a FREE centre, it is already marked. It helps only when that square belongs to the chosen pattern. A 4×4 grid has no single centre square.

Can I print the patterns free?

Yes. Select a design and choose Print pattern poster. You can also download an SVG image for slides or printing. No account or payment is required.

Can two players win on the same call?

Yes. Different layouts can still complete a pattern together. Check all claims against the call record and agree your shared-win rule before playing.

Do patterns work with picture bingo?

Yes. Players mark called pictures instead of numbers. Match the diagram to the card size and explain the winning shape before the round.
